Oscar Cast as Simba in The Lion King

We are delighted to announce that Finton House School pupil Oscar (Y4) has been cast as Simba in West End production of The Lion King.

Oscar’s mum, Carryl, said “Oscar’s Lion King process started in 2019 when he first watched the show. Each time we considered auditioning he was just too young. It was December last year when we heard auditions were taking place and decided it was time to go for it!

The audition process ran from January to March with a great deal of learning and homework in all three disciplines: dance, singing and acting. It was tough and, as much as we wanted to help him, this had to be something he did alone. He developed an understanding of how to be prepared and facilitate his own journey and growth.  The final rounds were so rewarding and culminated with a graduation. We prepared him for either outcome and were so incredibly proud. When we found out the news Oscar was so overwhelmed, stunned and joyfully tearful.

We feel so grateful that Mr Ben and Finton have supported Oscar’s passion since he started.  I know it wouldn’t be the same necessarily with other schools.”

Rehearsals started in March and Oscar takes on the role of Simba at the beginning of May. We are so proud of him!
