Clubs & Wraparound Care

Our extra-curricular clubs provide an exciting enrichment of the children’s experience at Finton and cover a huge range of activities such as art, cookery, sports, drama, film, jewellery making, Lego building and much more. These optional clubs offer the children a vast range of different opportunities, including to take an area of interest into greater depth, and act as extensions to the school day (8.30am – 4.00pm). After school clubs are typically an hour long (4.00 – 5.00pm Mon – Thu and 3.30 – 4.30pm on Fri), with some running longer if they are off-site.

Off-site clubs include Tom’s Farm Club, Swimming Squad, Hockey Club and Gardening Club.

In addition to this, we offer wraparound care in the form of Larks (our early room) and Owls (our late room). Children can be dropped off at 8.00am for Larks and can remain in Owls after school until 6.00pm (5.30pm on Fridays).

Act Drama

‘Pretend to be an animal starting with the letter B!’ Children in the Act Drama Club are encouraged to let their imagination run wild in interactive activities and role plays which foster creativity, build self-esteem and develop the children’s oral communication skills.

Entering the workroom full of Year 2 pupils, you could almost hear the gears whirring, as the children speculate about their opponents next move, and strategically move their pieces across the board. Playing chess is not only a great exercise for the brain, but it also puts the children’s patience and discipline to the test!

Our budding chefs learn to cook a variety of recipes from delicious samosas and laksa to sweet treats like rocky road cookies. They also participate in a MasterChef ‘mystery box’ challenge!

The Year 3 M-Tech Club provides a unique opportunity for children to participate in creative composition by combining traditional music theory with the latest creative technologies.

Relax Kids

Relax Kids

“Imitating tyrannosaurus footsteps, dripping water drops down the spine and stomping like a T Rex, the children could not help but laugh out loud.”  School Reporter

Relax Kids sessions incorporate movement and exercise, mindfulness and relaxation games, stretching, peer or self-massage and breathing techniques. The sessions are based around a theme ranging from superheroes to outer space to what makes us happy. Relax Kids provides the tools to manage stress and be more resilient, calm and confident whilst having fun and being creative.

Our children are lucky to grow up surrounded by lakes and rivers, and we take full advantage of the watersports facilities available to us in the centre of London! Last year an impressive number of twenty-two enthusiastic Upper School children mastered canoes and dragon boats on Wimbledon Lake.

From ships and animal farms to monsters, the kids let their imagination run wild. They patiently build fabulous constructions either on their own or in pairs.
