Speak Up Year 6!

We are so proud of Bella and Sophie who represented Year 6 in the inaugural ‘Speak Up Year 6!’ Grand Final at Wimbledon High School on Tuesday evening. They beat 300 other competitors to stand in front of judges’ panel and an audience of 150 adults to speak for 3 minutes without notes on a subject they feel passionate about.

Bella promoted a 3-day weekend and Sophie spoke about AI in Education – two very topical subjects. We were delighted that Sophie was awarded runner up to two worthy opponents from West Wimbledon School. Sophie said “Speak Up Year 6 was an amazing experience. Everyone spoke out about things that they were passionate about and became much more confident along the way. I really enjoyed it even though I was VERY nervous (and had a mind blank!). Everyone had incredible and creative speeches and had lots of fun.”

This was a wonderful opportunity for the whole of Y6 to learn and practise skills which will stand them in good stead for life. Click here to learn more about our Finton Ethos and Aims.
