Reaching the National General Knowledge Finals

Finton House’s More Able Quiz Club continues to go from strength to strength, having succeeded in reaching the National General Knowledge Finals. Each week the pupils take part in fun interactive quizzes, small general knowledge team games, and keep up to date with current affairs in this before-school invitational club.

This term has been a particularly exciting one as Miss Emma B took 2 teams to the National Quiz Heats at Alleyn’s School. Both teams (‘FH1’ and ‘FH2’, comprising of four pupils in each) performed brilliantly, with FH1 being invited to the online National Semi Finals. Huge success continued, as the team’s high scores ensured a place in the Grand Final to be held at Oxford University in July. This is the furthest More Able Quiz Club has ever gone in the competition, which is the UK’s largest inter-school general knowledge competition.

Miss Emma B said, “I could not be prouder of each and every member of Quiz Club, whose thirst for knowledge and constant enthusiasm is a joy to behold. Despite being in different year groups, they have learnt to work as a cohesive team and always show our Finton Goals of communication and respect.”

Next term, Quiz Club will join the rest of the school in taking part in the Inter-House Quiz competition, trying to win the much coveted Quiz Cup and gaining House points!
