Public Benefit

Finton House is a charitable trust, with a sense of philanthropy and social responsibility at its heart.

The School aims to provide public benefit by:

  • Widening pupil access to the school so that children who could not otherwise attend can benefit from the education provided;
  • Sharing the School’s human and physical resources with the local community;
  • Providing financial support to chosen organisations through fund raising and income;
  • Complying with the Charity Commission’s public benefit requirements.

Community Links

Finton House recognises the importance of good links with the local community and efforts are focused on providing appropriate access to our education and the expertise of our staff. We also support organisations financially through fund raising activities and school income. Fund raising within school is largely driven by the pupils with charities selected by the Pupil Council and Heads of Houses. Substantial funds are also raised through events organised by staff and parents. Invitations are sent to members of the local community for other events such as the SEN Forum held each year. The Sally Walker Bursary Fund

Sally Walker was a much-loved Headmistress of the school who sadly died of Cancer in 2006. The Bursary Foundation was set up by her family in her memory to fund free or assisted places for children who would not otherwise have access to independent education. Awards are means tested and fifteen children have benefited since the foundation was established in 2008. Parents, Old Fintonians and friends of the school can help to support the foundation by making a one-off donation or pledge a monthly donation.
