Finton Crowned National Champions at Prestigious ISFA U11 Sevens

We are incredibly proud to share some historic news from the PE department: our U11 boys’ football team have been crowned National Champions at the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) U11 Sevens.

The tournament took place at St George’s Park, the official home of the England national teams. Competing against the very best independent schools from across the country, our boys delivered a performance defined by both skill and heart.

The adventure began on Bank Holiday Monday. Accompanied by Mr Jonny, Mr Anthony, and Mr Sam, the squad—Xander, Ruben, Pareece, Eden, Tafari, Ben, and Christopher—arrived at the National Football Centre ready for business.

The team made the most of the world-class facilities with a two-hour intensive training session, followed by a team dinner and some well-earned downtime over table tennis and table football. This preparation proved vital, as the boys stepped onto the pitch the following morning with a clear sense of purpose and camaraderie.

On the big day, and from the opening whistle, Finton House played with a ferocious attacking style and a rock-solid defence that left spectators and opposing coaches thoroughly impressed.

The boys were relentless, dominating their group with five straight wins:

4–2 vs Swanbourne House

3–1 vs Stockport Grammar

8–0 vs Hymers

3–0 vs York House

2–1 vs Prince’s Mead

As the pressure mounted, so did our boys’ resolve. After a convincing 4–1 win against RGS The Grange in the Quarter Final, they faced a tense Semi Final against Berkhamsted. A single, hard-fought goal was enough to secure a 1–0 victory and a place in the Final.

Facing UCS in the ultimate showdown, Finton House delivered a true masterclass. With the trophy in sight, the team played some of their best football of the season, winning 3–1 to officially become the best U11 seven-a-side team in the country.

More Than Just Winners
While the trophy is a magnificent achievement, it was the manner in which the boys conducted themselves that truly stood out.

“The boys demonstrated exceptional teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship, representing Finton House brilliantly both on and off the pitch. Their attacking football and positive attitude were praised by everyone watching.” — The Coaching Team

To see our pupils celebrate on the same turf where their England heroes train is a memory that will stay with them forever.

A massive well done to Xander, Ruben, Pareece, Eden, Tafari, Ben, and Christopher. Your hard work and resilience have set a new benchmark for Finton House sport. A huge thank you also goes to our dedicated coaches for their guidance and support throughout this unforgettable trip.
