Sustainability

Finton House is a Green Flag Eco School and we have signed up to the Let’s Go Zero Campaign pledging to go zero carbon by 2030. We are committed to addressing the climate crisis through education, action, and sustainable practices. Our Climate Action Plan aims to inspire and empower our pupils, staff, and the wider school community to take responsibility for the environment and contribute to building a sustainable future.

By integrating environmental education into our curriculum, reducing our carbon footprint, and promoting sustainable behaviours, we strive to create an eco-conscious school culture that nurtures the next generation of global citizens. Our mission is to inspire and empower our children, staff, and broader community to become globally conscious and environmentally engaged citizens, committed to building a healthy and sustainable future for both people and the planet.

Aims and Objectives

Raise Awareness: Educate pupils, staff, and the wider school community about climate change, its impacts, and the importance of sustainable living.
Promote Sustainable Practices: Encourage eco-friendly habits, such as reducing waste, saving energy, and promoting active travel like walking or cycling to school.
Integrate Sustainability into the Curriculum: Embed environmental education across subjects, ensuring pupils understand the connection between their learning and real-world environmental challenges.
Enhance Biodiversity: Create and maintain green spaces, such as gardens, wildlife habitats, or outdoor learning areas, to support local ecosystems and foster hands-on environmental learning.
Reduce the School’s Carbon Footprint: Implement energy-saving measures, transition to renewable energy sources where possible, and promote responsible resource use across the school.
Foster Global Citizenship: Inspire pupils to think globally and act locally, understanding their role in contributing to a sustainable future for people and the planet.
