Finton Families Respond to Little Village Urgent Appeal

Finton families came together to support the charity Little Village this week by turning out their wardrobes and cupboards at home in support of local young families in need.

Little Village put out an urgent call for pre-loved coats and warm clothes for under 5s, moses baskets, cots, travel cots for newborns. In true Finton fashion, our parents and friends reacted instantly to this opportunity to care for others, and donated generously during a two-day drive this week. Our Year 6 pupils took great pride in loading up a volunteer’s car to the brim with items ready to go to those who need them most. This generosity follows a hugely successful drive for Little Village at Finton Fest, our summer fete, in July 2022.

Not only are Little Village keeping children dressed and warm in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Brent, Hackney and Hounslow, but via their work with the media and social media they are also advocates for raising awareness of how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting families. They have helped 25,000 families across London since they were founded in 2016.

Jo Binding, who received the donations on behalf of Little Village, said “Thank you so much to everyone at Finton for your generous donations. There will be a lot of children warm this winter as a result of your kindness!” Jo also sent a video of the donations arriving at our local hub, which can be watched here.

We plan to instate a regular collection point here at Finton over the coming months and will update our community with items which are needed.
