Choosing a school for your child can feel both exciting and a little daunting. You are welcome to contact our Registrar, Lucy Wheeler, who will be happy to explain the process to you and answer any questions you may have.
Finton House has a policy of non-selective entry. Parents are advised to register for Reception places as soon as possible after the birth of their child. Two entrance lists are opened for every academic year, one in September and one in March, to give parents of March - August babies a fair chance of being offered a definite place. Definite places are allocated as applied for until the list is full (approx 30 boys and 30 girls), and subsequent applicants are placed on a waiting list.
Late Entry places are sometimes available, and parents are encouraged to contact the Registrar if they are looking for a place in Years 1-6.
You are welcome to come and visit the school prior to registering, even though for many this means before your baby is even born. Contact our Registrar to make an appointment. There will be plenty of opportunities to visit the school later on if you prefer. Our Open Day each autumn is popular with families as it is on a Saturday. In addition every parent is invited to one of our weekday Open Mornings two years before their child's entry date. We recognise that working parents may find it difficult to attend weekday appointments, and we aim to be flexible by arranging individual showrounds at a time to suit you if necessary.
