Introduction from Head Pupil

I have been at Finton House for seven years, and each morning I've come to school looking forward to the action-packed day ahead. I can't believe it is nearly time for me to move to my senior school. Of course I'll be excited about my new school, but I will always remember all my teachers and friends who have helped me over all the years I have been at Finton House.

I am sure I felt a bit nervous on my first day here, but the teachers were so nice, and the older children always looked after me. That's the special thing about Finton: everyone is friends. It doesn't seem to matter how old you are, or if you are a boy or a girl - we even get on with our teachers most of the time. The prefects and monitors help the teachers look after the younger pupils and do jobs like organising house events, counting housepoints and doing duties around the school.

Our days here are pretty busy. We meet in our classes for registration at 8.45, and twice a week we have assembly. Then we have lessons, a break mid-morning when we play Patball, Football and lots of other games, and then more lessons until lunch. There are lots of different choices for lunch and we sit with our friends. The day is arranged differently for different year groups so that the lower school (years Reception - Year 2) have more play time and an earlier lunch. We do Games or PE nearly every day, and thre is swimming once a week. Our teams are pretty good - we beat most of the schools in the area this year, especially in swimming, and there are lots of chances to keep fit. I do after school Swimming Club on Tuesdays and Hockey on Wednesdays. I also do early morning Netball on Fridays.

There are day trips for all year groups, such as Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, the Science Museum and the Houses of Parliament, and lots of fun workshops in school. We also go on residential trips from Year 3 upwards. I am going to France this summer with the rest of Year 6, part of the special curriculum we follow after our exams have finished.

If you are a new pupil, I hope you enjoy life at Finton to the full, and make lots of friends here.

Have fun!
