In the classroom, on the sports field, or in the playground, the smiles on the faces of staff and pupils are not staged - they are always there, borne of trust and mutual understanding, and a genuine excitement about learning and discovery.

As a father myself, I am keenly aware that childhood is a precious experience, and I believe that school should offer children the same sense of happiness and security they feel at home. Finton children are encouraged to be themselves. By nurturing each child's sense of self, and by modelling strong family values - respect, good manners, tolerance, generosity - we allow children to grow and learn with confidence, and it is this more than anything that enables them to achieve the excellent results they do, and to go on to their next schools with the knowledge, the skills and the values they will need to face the challenges ahead.
