Exciting Learning

We believe in making learning excitingAt Finton House we believe that children learn better when they are confident and inspired. This belief informs our approach to education. Small class sizes, specialist teaching, cross curricular integration, workshops, trips and special events all contribute to the development of a love of learning.

CurriculumFinton House provides a broad and balanced curriculum, extending beyond the National Curriculum. Emphasis is placed upon supplementing the academic subjects with a wide range of opportunities in other curricular areas; for example music, drama and sport. It is a curriculum that is well designed and resourced; enabling us to ensure that the children reach their potential. Our aim is to develop key skills and an enthusiastic approach to learning that will remain with the children long after they have left us.

Class TeachersFinton House has a committed and well-qualified teaching staff and a very high staff to pupil ratio. Within each year group there are two or three parallel classes, each with its own class teacher who is supported by assistants. Each class is taught a range of subjects by the class teacher, frequently in small groups or half classes. The class teacher develops a close relationship with the children and is responsible for each child's pastoral care. Parents are encouraged to meet regularly to discuss children's progress and welfare. |
