Sport For All

Specialist teaching with winning results

At Finton House emphasis is placed upon the importance of sport in the development of our pupils. All year groups are taught by specialist sports teachers, and during their time at the school pupils take part in a wide range of team and individual sports.

Sport for Reception-Year 2

Lower School children have an afternoon of sport, a gym lesson, a PE lesson and a swimming session each week.  Lessons are taught at our nearby fields, in the gym, on the netball court in the playground and at Tooting Leisure Centre.

Sport for Years 3-6

Upper School children have two afternoon sessions of games involving football, rugby or cricket for boys, and netball, rounders or hockey for girls. They also participate in swimming and an additional gym, dance or games lesson.

Timetabled lessons are supplemented by an extensive range of optional after-school clubs. These include football (for boys and girls), rugby, cricket, rounders, netball, ballet, Scottish dancing, gymnastics, judo, swimming, yoga, fencing and karate.

Healthy Competition

We believe it is important that every child has the opportunity to play sport competitively. Over the past few years our teams have achieved impressive results, winning tournaments in netball, football and rugby.
