School Development

We are excited to announce plans for a new development at Finton House. There are no plans to increase pupil numbers at the school; the aim is to improve the learning environment for our existing pupils.

The new specialist teaching building which will be mainly sited underneath the playground is designed to provide purpose built rooms for Science, Music, Design Technology and Learning Support, freeing up space in our existing main building for improved classrooms.

Following the go ahead by the Board of Governors, The Buxton Group was appointed as the contractor.

Buxtons prepared a Construction Management Plan which was submitted to Wandsworth Borough Council after taking into account the views of the school, the architect and local residents.  Buxtons have appointed a site manager, Dave Ironside who will liaise with all local parties interested in the project.  He can be contacted on 07932 523362.

Additionally, as a further level on oversight and management the school has appointed a Clerk of Works to monitor the construction and report directly to the school.

The building work began on 9th July 2012 and it is expected that all the external work will be completed in the Summer Term 2013. The final stage, the internal alterations of classrooms will take place through the Summer holidays completed ready for the start of the Autumn Term 2013.

The photograph below shows you the progress made to date.
