Admission to Finton House

Our Policy

Finton House has a policy of non-selective entry.  Parents are advised to register for Reception places as soon as possible after the birth of their child. Two entrance lists are opened for every academic year, one in September and one in March, to give parents of those children born in the latter half of the year a fair chance of applying for a place.  Definite places are allocated as applied for until the list is full, and subsequent applicants are placed on a waiting list.  We often have one or two places available in year groups above Reception, and parents are strongly encouraged to contact the registrar, Lucy Wheeler, if they are looking for a place in Years 1-6.

We hold our Annual Open Evening on the second Thursday in October.  It is an excellent opportunity to meet all the staff, see the school and spend some time looking at the children's work. This event is open to anyone with an interest in the school. There is no need to phone ahead - just come along.

What will happen

If you wish to register, the first step is to contact Lucy Wheeler the school registrar, to ask for a registration pack. We will acknowledge receipt of your registration form, and will let you know whether you have a definite place or a place on a waiting list.

Once your child is registered with Finton House there are several opportunities for you to get to know the school better before you have to make a formal commitment to us. As well as receiving an invitation to Open Evening, you will be invited to meet the Headmaster and have a tour of the school at one of our termly Open Mornings. In addition, we warmly invite you to share in the fun of Finton at some of the events that take place during the school year, e.g. the Christmas Fair and the Summer Fete. Just check the termly calendar for upcoming events, and give us a ring if you would like to come.

Parents with definite places are asked for a deposit of £500 to confirm the place eighteen months before their child is due to join the school. This deposit is refunded when the child joins the school. One year before joining, parents are asked for a further deposit of £3000, a full term's fees. £1,000 of this is refunded when the child joins the school, and the remaining £2000 is deducted from the final term's fees. Please note that once deposits have been made, they are non-refundable if the place is not taken up.

Registration forms are available by telephoning the registrar, Lucy Wheeler on 020 8682 0921 or by emailing her at admissions@fintonhouse.org.uk
